To enable Harper to automatically monitor and respond to emails, we’re asking you to set up an integration with Google. This will allow Harper to manage incoming messages on behalf of your organization. If you have any questions about these steps, please contact your Wisq Customer Success Manager for assistance.
What This Integration Does
Once configured, Wisq will:
- Monitor specified inbox(es) for all incoming messages
- Automatically create or continue email threads as needed
- Delegate or hand off email messages if necessary
- Replies come from Harper (harper@[customername].com)
How We Access Mailboxes (and What We Don't)
We use Application Access via Google Workspace Domain-Wide Delegation, which means:
- No individual users need to log in or re-authenticate
- There are no popup logins, tokens to manage, or session expirations
- We only access inboxes you explicitly configure in our web app
- We do not access all mailboxes in your organization. Even though domain-wide delegation technically grants broad access, our service only reads from and writes to the email addresses you add in our dashboard.
You remain in full control. You may revoke access at any time from the Google Admin Console.
Prerequisites
- Google Workspace Admin privileges
- Ability to create new email accounts in your organization
- Access to Wisq Admin Console
Setup Steps
1. Create Harper’s Email Address
Following your organization’s procedures to create a new account, please set up a harper@[customername].com email address.
2. Notify Wisq Team
Contact your Wisq Customer Success Manager that Harper's email address has been created.
⚠️ Important: Wisq must complete configuration before you can proceed to Step 3. We will notify you (typically within 1 business day) when you can continue.
3. Google Admin Consent (One-Time Setup by Google Admin)
A Google Admin must grant consent for our application to access Gmail on behalf of your administration.
- In Google Admin, go to Security → Access and data control → API controls → Domain wide delegation → MANAGE DOMAIN WIDE DELEGATION
- Select Add new → Enter the Wisq client ID 104611147626225455461
- Enter the following OAuth scopes:
- Verify Configuration: Confirm the new entry appears in your Domain-wide delegation list
4. Set Up Mailboxes in the Wisq Dashboard
After admin consent is complete:
- Go to Wisq then to the Admin Console. Click on the Configure tab.
- Go to Emails (under Tools), click Add email.
- Add the email addresses you want our system to monitor and respond from:
- Complete the following fields:
- Provider: Select ‘Gmail’ from the dropdown
- Inbox Type: When configuring harper@[customername].com, select Individual
- If Harper will also sit in a shared inbox at your organization, we will come back later to configure that address.
- Email Address: Please enter the address you’ve created for Harper at your organization
- Response Template: Harper’s formatted email signature - our team is happy to help with formatting.
- Enable Email: Toggle to the right to enable. If disabled, Harper will not send emails.
- Please be sure to Save
- Complete the following fields:
Once complete, Wisq will look like the below screenshot:
Now, Wisq/Harper will automatically:
- Create watch subscriptions for new emails
- Fetch message content and metadata securely
- Respond to messages or threads
- Setup stays active until your admin revokes access.
