To enable your employees to engage with Harper over Google Chat, we're asking you to install the Wisq app in your Google Workspace. If you have any questions about these steps, please contact your Wisq Agent Strategist for assistance.
Prerequisites
The person completing installation must have Google Workspace Super Administrator permissions and Wisq Admin access.
The same person must complete both the Wisq steps and the Google steps. The validation code generated in Wisq is tied to the Wisq account it was displayed to, so it cannot be passed to a colleague to paste in on your behalf.
If your Google Workspace Super Admin does not have Wisq Admin access, please contact your Agent Strategist before you begin. If you use a dedicated Google admin account (separate from your standard company email), please notify your Agent Strategist — that account will need to be granted Wisq Admin access first.
Setup Steps
1. Get your Wisq validation code
- Log in to Wisq
- Go to the Admin Console. Click on the Configure tab
- Under Integrations, click Google Chat
- Copy the Wisq code shown on this page to your clipboard. You'll paste it into Google Chat in Step 3.
- Leave this page open — you'll use the Marketplace link on it in the next step
2. Install Harper from the Google Workspace Marketplace
- From the same Google Chat configuration page in Wisq, click Google Workspace Marketplace. This opens the Harper app listing in the Marketplace.
- The Google Workspace admin must be the person who clicks this link
- Click Admin Install
- Choose who should have the app installed:
- Everyone at your organization — installs Harper for all users
- Certain groups or organizational units — select the organizational units and groups you want, then click Select
- We recommend starting with a small test group or organizational unit and expanding once you've confirmed everything works
- Review and accept the app permissions to complete the installation
If installation is blocked by your security settings: your Workspace may restrict which third-party apps can be installed. Go to admin.google.com, find the Harper app, and add it to your allowlist, then return to the Marketplace and install again.
Note: Changes to app access in Google Workspace can take up to 24 hours to reach all users, though they typically happen more quickly.
3. Validate the connection
- Open Google Chat and look for Harper under Apps
- Start a chat with Harper and paste in the Wisq code you copied in Step 1
- Send the code as a message
This validates the connection and enables Harper to respond to messages from your organization. Harper will not respond to anyone until this step is complete.
4. Test
- Send a test message to Harper. "Test" works great!
- Confirm that Harper responds. Please note, it may take 30–60 seconds for Harper to respond.
5. Expand access (when you're ready)
If you installed for a limited test group, return to the Harper app in the Google Workspace Marketplace or to Apps → Google Workspace Marketplace apps in the Google Admin Console to add additional organizational units or groups, or to make Harper available to your entire organization.
Once available, anyone in your organization can search for the Harper app in Google Chat and send her messages.
